"Clearly Clobbered"

Bill had dental work to get done today so I took the day off to be a designated driver. This is what I would have shown up to. (This is the news media, but no official report from work yet.) This is the job site that I work at in case you didn't know.
We thankfully only got the tail end of the storm with some rain. I don't think our roof could have withstood 70+ mile an hour winds. It was damaged in a monsoon storm about 3 weeks ago and we are waiting on the insurance to get it repaired. That storm knock down lots of power poles and left some of our neighbors with out power for more than 2 days. I will take the 10' of roof tiles it lifted up during the storm to no power. (Well, we lost our power too, but it came on after a couple of hours.)

Afternoon Swim

Dad and the kids enjoying a late afternoon swim.

We like to call that Billie Ballet! Look at those long skinny legs.

And finally, Isn't this just a face that only a mama could love?
(He lost his second tooth on the first day of school)
That's my baby! :-)

Back to School

The kids started at a brand new charter school this year. WE LOVE IT! (Oh sorry, did I shout that?) So far, so much better than our local neighborhood school. I do have to drive them there. but it is on my way to work, so we get more time together in the car, I can drop them off early enough that I can pick them up at the end of the school day. And if we don't have errands to run, we are home by 3:30. That makes it worth it. The kids are loving school. They love their teachers, I LOVE their teachers, the administration is great, the before school care teachers are wondeerful and all of that makes me love the whole situation. They are quite sleepy in their terrible first day of school pictures. It was taken before the sun was even out, we were in a bit of a hurry and thank goodness for red-eye editing! :-)

Oh and just as a P.S. If any of my local fellow bloggers want information on this great school email me privately and I can give you more information. They are still a growing school inviting others to join. They serve Pre-K-5 this year.

Last 1st lost tooth and other bits

I guess it is official. Last week Jame's lost his first baby tooth! I told him after it came out that it is official, he can't be a baby anymore. He is now a big kid. He didn't really like that idea and asked me to put his tooth back! Ha...if it were only that easy.

This is Billie's art corner. It is the one place in her room that is perpetually messy. Because "she is an artist" I guess. While they were up in Wyoming I bought these kitchen organizers at IKEA for her markers/pencils to go in. I love the way they look, she can take down one or two cups if she wants too, but it keeps the markers neat and tidy!
Doesn't that just look kewl!
Jess and I took some cool scrapbooking classes while she was here this summer and I promised A I would post a picture of the Family Plaque. Here is my version. I wish I had taken a picture of Jess's too cause hers was way "sick." Hot pink and Black! Maybe she will post a picture of it on her blog!
That big metal flower on the end is my favorite thing!
(Oh but I love the Cherry paper that I found too!)

New Blog Look

What do you think? Is it me? Do you like it? As tempted as I was to use the new "vampire" background, I think this is more me. Let me know what you think!

New Summer Side Dish

For dinner this evening I made Grilled Eggplant Slices. It was super easy. I took an eggplant and sliced it into 1/2 inch slices and I brushed it with a mixture of olive oil, balsamic vineagrette, salt and pepper. Then I grilled it on both sides until it had nice grill marks and it looked done. It was delicious. (the skin was a bit chewy but we just ate the middle out of the rings.) Let me know if you try it and what you think?
